Positive mental attitude
Fulham arrive in Toon tomorrow for what should be a nail on three points for Glenn Roeder at St James' Park.
Since Roeder has been installed as boss United's record at home has been solid with just one defeat on the board since taking charge.
Even though his record reads extremely well, defeat against Fulham will be sure to set the alarm bells ringing.
And United players will be about as welcome as Michael Gray at Wayne Rooney's house should they consider a night out on the Quayside following defeat against the side from Craven Cottage.
But I get the feeling that won't happen tomorrow and we'll beat the Cottagers in a convincing win.
Newcastle's players and fans have been stewing over the defeat at Aston Villa for a fortnight now and rightly so.
The result wasn't acceptable under the high standards set by Roeder and it was a miserable trip back from Villa for the Toon Army.
Home games, however, are a different kettle of fish for the Toon.
The atmosphere has returned somewhat under Roeder and opponents are once more beginning to fear the trip to Tyneside.
Chuck in the home bows for Guiseppe Rossi, Oba Martins and Antoine Sibierski and it could turn out to be a day to remember.
The capture of Sibierski and Rossi might not have set pulses racing round here but if the new boys can do the business in a black and white shirt, will anybody really care about the lack of big-name signings?
It's not easy to measure what people's expectations are in the aftermath of the transfer window closing.
But it is easy for people to be negative.
Yet with 36 games left of the Premiership season, and going off what Glenn has already done as a coach, United fans should remain positive for the time being at least.
*UNITED fans have chance to quiz ex-Toon star John Anderson at Idols ahead of the game tomorrow.
The action starts at 1pm and the event is free.

well i just hope we get it right this time...coz at villa ...the game was over b4 it started....im born and bread toony...but im sure the toon is cursed...coz us geordies have hearts of lions...and we can only take so much...i know its early stages ..yes ..but we need a boost ..to boost the fans too as well as the players..coz at the end of the day if ya have no fans (LIKE THE MAKEMS) lol..whos gonna pay the wages ???...alls i can say is GOOD LUCK LADS & DO YA BEST THIS TIME.
Let's all get behind the Antoine - if you check out the commentary for the 3rd and 4th goals in this video, he's clearly a player who can have a lot of impact on games:

"We have gone and conceded two bad goals. I have got to stop coming on here and saying that, but there were two bad mistakes and that cost us the two goals."
Why don't you do something about it Glenn? Trying to sign mediocre players like Zat Knight and Robert Huth is not going to solve it - they are no better than what we've got. Either you're a good enough coach (and former defender) to sort our existing defenders out, or you're a good enough judge of a player's ability to be able to bring a decent defender to the club. Don't just heap the blame your own defenders - at the end of the day, it's your responsibility.
Well Glen, you had 2 weeks in order to sort out the back 4, as it was they were caught napping during the last 9 minutes against Fulham, just what are you going to do, you lost the chance to bring in some quality at the back during the ransfer fiasco. Just look at the Boro at Arsenal, Woodgate was outstanding, you are to blame Glen as these are your players playing to your tune, also what happened to Milner, scored a goal for the under 21 as did a certain Daivid Nugent who you would not persue. No seat for Milner on the bench ?
Expect a lot more empty seats if you do not get it right, we cannot be losing to teams like Villa and Fulham, god help us when we meet a decent side.
Seem to remember a certain defender who we weren't that fussed about being immense and keeping boro alive yesterday.
We should be shot for not getting Woody back.
