If ever you wanted to look for the textbook method of holding a grudge then the best person to speak to is Mr Craig Bellamy, formerly of this parish.
It's been said on this blog before that it could be argued that Bellers has been missed on the field of play since being shown the boot by Newcastle United last year.
He got too big for his silver boots at Newcastle and was shown the door.
Something he is still clearly cheesed off about on the evidence of his raging last night.
His style at running at people, scoring goals, making goals and generally getting right up the nose of the opposition has been missed at St James' Park.
And last night we got a dose of it ourselves at Anfield.
True, the little Welshman didn't notch against United.
But he certainly relished winding the travelling Toon Army up didn't he?
Yes he was getting loads of abuse but isn't that normal when you are a former player who's left in controversial circumstances?
Some of us would still have him back that's for sure.
But what was he thinking after Liverpool's first goal?
What he could have done was turn round and get on with the game.
What he did was pick the ball up and try to blast it towards the Newcastle fans and missed hitting instead his own fans, nice one Craig!
Then when somebody decided, wrongly, to launch a bottle at him from the United end, he decided to take a drink.
Hardly a clever move.
But even then he wasn't finished, trying to nail Celestine Babayaro in the closing stages, and then a senseless attack on Terry Mac in the tunnel when the game was already won.
Terry Mac had spoke of Bellers at the press conference that resulted in his umpteenth return to Toon but at that time it was common dressing room opinion.
So why get involved?
What goes round comes round Bellers but if he's fit for the home game it's a fair bet he'll be in for a red hot reception.
Had he took the taunting by United fans - much of it in reference to his relationship with the watching Alan Shearer - with a pinch of salt, he would have made his life much easier when it comes to next February when Liverpool come to Tyneside.
Perhaps he needs to give Chris Waddle, Gazza or Andy Cole a ring before the game, just to get an idea!
