Dyer straits

Posted by Lee on October 27, 2006 5:51 PM |

Kieron DyerIt could only happen to Kieron Dyer and it has again.

Just two days after making a successful comeback from injury Dyer is hurt once more.

Dyer will not play against Charlton tomorrow night after sustaining a freak eye injury in training.

Most Toon fans will fear the worst.

But this time it is expected Dyer will not sit out for six months.

Thankfully Dyer - who was looking good against Portsmouth - will only miss two weeks of action.

It comes just at a time when United need him most but after taking a knock on his eye, Dyer has been advised to miss a fortnight starting against Charlton.

Glenn Roeder has described it as cruel luck but that's the story of 2006 for Dyer.

More worryingly with Oba Martins and Shola Ameobi struggling with injuries too and Seppe Rossi cup-tied in Europe, United will head to Palermo next week short on numbers in terms of strikers meaning Albert Luque will never get a better chance of glory.

Whether Luque takes it remains to be seen.

But the question of the day as far as Toon fans are concerned is when will Dyer get the rub of the green?

hopefully we will get kieran dyer fully fit soon as cos we need someone like him to run at defences.we have to be relistic and admit already this season we are in a relegation battle, third biggest stadium in the country and we are 17th place in the league, crowds are down confidence is low, we are in real danger.the players simply are not good enough. i would only keep, shay, taylor, parker, emre, dyer, nzog and michael owen the rest can go on free transfers for all i care.what happens if we are relegated,i have visions of us been in worse financial state than leeds.theres no point anyone saying there will be signings in january cos weve been saying that for couple of years now and they all players we signed are simply wasters or get injured ps not michel owens fault he got injured at the world cup,he should never have gone to the world cup in the first place as he wasnt fully fit to play.

I've gave up on Dyer. He'll always be injured. He only became important when Souness sold Bellamy, and now he's history. Sell.
