He's simply Turk of the Toon!

Emre
Who says footballers don't put in a hard days work these days?

Well we know they get well paid but Emre's day at St James' Park did see him put in a good honest shift today.

The little Turk and former Galatasaray ace spent the morning preparing to take on Fenerbahce tomorrow before facing the mass media for a couple of hours from both his homeland and the Press troops on the United beat.

With several journalists making the trip to Tyneside for the big UEFA Cup clash, Emre was on hand to answer questions in both Turkish and English revealing he will be gunning to see off the team nicknamed the yellow canaries in Istanbul.

Galatasaray fan Emre knows it will be extra special to beat his old sides fierce rivals and with his entire family in Toon to see the big game he doesn't want to let anybody down.

It's no secret that Emre arrived in Newcastle for Champions League football but even though that seems miles away at the moment, the UEFA Cup isn't a bad consolation.

Emre was part of the Galatasaray squad that beat Arsenal back in 2000 but if there's one nagging doubt at the back of his mind, it's that he didn't play in the final due to suspension.

If that's an extra spark for United then great but Emre knows there are more than three points at stake tomorrow at SJP, especially with millions of Gala fans cheering him on back home in Istanbul.

One things for sure, he won't need to get a drink in again in Istanbul if he scores the winner against his old rivals tomorrow night!!!

Emre has all the motivation he needs to put in a big performance on Thursday. I'm a massive fan of his and I'd love to see him play a blinder in front of both his families - his family from back home and, of course, the Toon Army! Let's just hope the defence don't let him and everyone else down again...

Perhaps Emre could run on before the game and plant a Galatasaray flag in the centre circle. I believe a former Toon manager did that during one derby game.

We're long overdue a good performance from Emre, I'm not exactly sure what he is doing most of the time, then again what did we expect seen as Inter let him go for under £4m, he was hardly going to be a world beater! If it was up to me he'd be out of the team in favour of Zog.
