Not since Jermaine Jenas - now with Spurs - fired home a last minute winner in North London have Newcastle got the better of Tottenham in their own backyard.
United have certainly had their moments at White Hart Lane in their Premiership years but none of them coming in the last three visits.
No goals, no points, no wins and a broken foot for Michael Owen is all United have to show for their efforts since 2003 and with another patched up squad heading for the capital it wouldn't be a surprise if that pain continued.
United were head and shoulders above Spurs in the reverse fixture at St James' Park but that was the last time they won this season.
And even though Glenn Roeder's side picked up a great result against Man United and earned a replay with a depleted team against Birmingham, the Premiership remains a cause for concern.
True United aren't as close to the relegation trapdoor as they were.
But the sooner they reach 40 plus points the better.
It's not like Newcastle aren't capable of getting anything from White Hart Lane
It's just two away wins all season have not given the travelling loyal band of Toon fans much to optimistic about this term.
Yet, and as ever, optimistic is what the Toon Army will be in London.
Nobody believed that Newcastle would get anything at Arsenal and they conjured up a point, on another day it could have been all three.
A win at West Ham in September and a narrow defeat at Chelsea, for once, looks like a half decent record in London for Newcastle so far with the capital once a feared Premiership destination.
And if they are going to get anything out of this they will need to get the most out of the midfield department which needs to protect a back four that still includes two teenagers and Nobby Solano at right-back.
David Edgar and Paul Huntington have done OK since they came in but at Birmingham they had a rocky ride.
Luckily Emre is back and ready to go and Scott Parker is back from suspension.
Nicky Butt is struggling with a virus but could have shrugged it off after a weekend in bed before the 4pm kick-off.
United have been linked with Ronaldo in the attacking stakes over the last 48 hours but this seems unlikely.
And it will be up to Oba Martins and Kieron Dyer to do the business at Spurs in attack.
But take away that optimistic bunch of Toon fans and you aren't left with much else.
It could just be that United fans are in for another long miserable walk down the Seven Sisters Road.
