They didn't come in their droves to Belgium because they only got 650 tickets but they still made one hell of a racket.
It was never going to be easy drowning out a brass band in Ghent, but the Toon Army did it in style.
Tops off if you love the Toon was the order of the night for many with many Zulte Waregem fans also chipping in to make it a wonderful atmosphere.
But if the Toon fans were stunned to hear Zulte's hardcore support chanting "Shall we sing a song for you", the home support must have been equally as confused to hear "Terry Hibbitt on the wing" in response!
It was one of those nights I guess!
Yet life is good at the moment for Glenn Roeder and Newcastle.
An injury hit campaign has been boosted in recent games with a good 2-1 win over Liverpool and then a 3-1 success over the part-timers from Belgium.
And while the Belgian brass band blasted out the A-Team theme into the mild European air in Ghent, Roeder must now be thinking just what type of magic he can weave if his own A team is fully fit.
But what about those who did play last night?
Nobby Solano was fabulous at right-back and Titus Bramble also had a good night.
Kieron Dyer wasn't too far behind them either while the goalscoring duo of Oba Martins and Antoine Sibierski also notched one each.
The own goal by Fredi Dindeleux got things started after the break and even when the Euro minnows pulled one back, things still looked comfortable.
The second leg looks secure too, and then it is across to Wigan to continue the Premiership revival.
United may be moving slowly at the moment, but at least they are moving the right direction.
