No matter what walk of life you're in - you always seem to get kicked when you're down.
And that has to be the case for Newcastle United with Steven Taylor now the latest injury victim of another international break to forget.
Taylor's back problem sustained in Portugal means he will miss the Liverpool game on Saturday and like Michael Owen before him may be facing a stint on the sidelines for several weeks.
But like Owen, it isn't the first time for Taylor and never mind lightning striking twice!
This is now the FOURTH time it's happened involving both Owen and Taylor when it comes to international duty!
Indeed nobody needs reminding of the night at the 2006 World Cup that Owen crashed to the turf in Germany and shattered his knee to rule him out for almost an entire season.
And for Taylor?
Well it's also happened before hasn't it?
Cast your mind back to November 2005, England Under-21s are preparing for their game with France and Taylor collided with Carlton Cole to sustain a nasty shoulder injury.
If you can call it a comeback Taylor then returned to the first team at Newcastle on Boxing Day 2005 and lasted barely half an hour when his shoulder popped out again and he emerged from the dressing room with his arm in a sling.
He was ruled out for the rest of the campaign thanks to England duty.
And while it probably won't be as bad this time, the cold facts of this international break so far have been that Taylor and Owen are out of the Big Sam's plans for the next few weeks.
God only knows what the answer is to this.
You cannot stop players who want to play for their country can you?
But surely we are in for a change of luck with this whole damn situation!
On a brighter note though Oba Martins did not even make it into Switzerland never mind on to the field for Nigeria's clash in Zurich after the player failed to get past red tape due to a lack of visa.
That has to be good news for United and Martins will be raring to go for Liverpool.
It means that Taylor's absence at the other end will most likely see Habib Beye deployed as a central defender alongside David Rozehnal - that is of course providing the pair come through their respective games for the Czech Republic and Senegal tonight.
It means that Geremi may be handed the right-back slot but David Edgar now comes into the reckoning with the Canadian more than able to slot into either centre-back or on the right hand side of Big Sam's back four.
But given United's ridiculous amount of bad luck in the injury department who knows what could happen between now and 12.45pm on Saturday?
