TOON SENSATION
Kevin Keegan is back at Newcastle United in an amazing twist to the managerial situation at St James's Park.
KK is back for a third spell in Newcastle in a move that will delight the romantics on Tyneside and also fill the void for sacked manager Big Sam Allardyce.
Keegan had fans singing and dancing last November at a dinner on Tyneside and now history has repeated itself once again.
For back in 1991 Keegan emerged during a sticky patch for then boss Ossie Ardiles to promote the official history book of United before being appointed manager a few months later in early 1992.
In all honesty the move has sent shockwaves around and left many people rocking with excitement as the Messiah returns to the place he calls home.
All of those memories of The Entertainers have been wheeled out in recent times as the football reached a new low.
But that's all history now as the Geordie nation hope that a new exciting era that will have fans singing and dancing once more on the Tyneside streets.
Indeed queues at the ticket office swirled out of control at Gallowgate as they bent round to the back alley near the East Stand.
Fans were in a state of pure shock as one Geordie pointed out: "You can pay on the turnstiles."
And in a quick reply the other Toon fan said: "I'm not after a ticket for tonight, I'm after a season ticket."
Within minutes the game went from a stay away cup tie to a sell out as rumours of KK being presented on the pitch swept the city.
Players wandered into St James's amidst a wave of nervous energy but as usual Michael Owen stayed cool.
In the Press room SuperMac, Peter Beardsley and John Anderson were swamped by journalists wanting a reaction.
The kick off was then delayed by 15 minutes as fans partied in the streets.
A new era was already well under way.
Good times? You bet.
WHAT'S YOUR REACTION TO THE KK APPOINTMENT?
