The last couple of days all seems like some kind of crazy dream but as each hour passes the reality is that Kevin Keegan is back on Tyneside and the city is buzzing once again.
And you just can't help thinking about the good times.
You know what I mean stuff like Rob Lee's hat-trick of headers, Grimsby away, Howay 5-0, Albert's chip, Tino Asprilla, KK saying: "I would love it", Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, Pedro - the list is endless.
Outside of Newcastle people think it's a joke, from one Soccer Circus to another seems to be general cocensus.
But any Geordie is thinking differently - KK is older and wiser and while many doubt his passion for the game isn't what it used to be his love for Newcastle United Football Club has never died - Keegan has always held a torch for the Toon.
Last time around Keegan created a monster with United and it turned into a monster that even the players couldn't control.
After building up a 12 point lead a lack of experience going into the final straight meant that United were just short of the task in hand and couldn't finish the job.
It's a massive ask for KK to get us back to that level so quickly but don't forget in just four years he dragged us from the bottom of Division Two to the top of the Premier League.
This time he jumps on board with United 11th in the Premier League and with a decent squad at his disposal.
Critics will say that KK's methods are past their sell by date.
But we already know that Keegan was straight back on the training pitch with his new squad and he soon had them smiling again.
None of them were worrying about making runs that might be tracked by ProZone or how many crosses or shots they'd made.
It's believed that Keegan will go back to basics with United and no matter what people say about the modern game, the rules haven't changed - it is still a simple game.
Why can't you go out with an attacking game plan?
Why can't the players play the game with a smile on their faces?
Why shouldn't the Geordie public be entertained?
At the end of the day, it may have been painful at the time to lose the title in 1996 but it certainly beats getting murdered at home to Portsmouth and being 3-0 down before some people have even sat down.
Bolton at home tomorrow will give us the first idea of how we are going to play in the new KK era.
But I think most of us already have an inkling of how that might be.
It's interesting that Bolton have reverted to Big Sam's tactics of the long ball/pass approach.
And tomorrow we'll see exactly what happens when you try to counter it with a display of swashbuckling football.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
