Since they arrived in the Premier League they've quite rightly earned the tag of one of the noisiest bunch of fans in the country.
But despite their victory over injury hit West Ham the other night, from Newcastle's point of view surely there is no better time to end the 17 year wait for a win on the south coast.
And we all know they've got other things on their mind now they've reached the FA Cup final.
If Newcastle come out of the blocks first in sunny Portsmouth they have a great chance to extend the winning run to four games.
And just to add a little bit of spice to the game, the opposing dugout will contain Harry Redknapp.
Redknapp was said to be one of the candidates for the Toon job back in January but probably to the delight of the Geordie Nation, didn't come north.
How keen Redknapp was to come to Tyneside anyway will remain a mystery to the St James's Park regulars but even though Pompey have a great chance to win the FA Cup this term, the feeling I get is that many people are delighted by the way it worked out with KK back home.
As John Beresford said in a Chronicle interview this week, certain managers suit certain clubs and KK suits Newcastle down to the ground as well as understanding the club and the fans.
On Saturday we'll see what this Porstmouth team have in their lockers.
For many of them this FA Cup final will represent possibly their only chance to win a medal in a blue shirt, so the question is why would they risk injury or suspension?
The good folk of the south coast will have you believe otherwise of course as will their manager.
Yet if Newcastle begin the game in the right fashion they can take three points from a Pompey side who are starting think about getting measured for their cup final suits and rehearsing their lines for a bad pre-Wembley pop song.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
