Sent to Coventry

Newcastle United were handed an unspectacular away day at Coventry in the Carling Cup following the Sky Blues' 3-1 win over Aldershot.

On a night which Newcastle's second string drew 0-0 against Newcastle Blue Star in a game abandoned due to a downpour at Kingston Park, there was little cheer after a potential banana skin tie or a "banana blip" as Sir Bobby would say came out of the hat in the Carling Cup.

United's quest for a trophy has gone on long enough and even to get through to the third round, United must overcome a mini hurdle.

That said it at least gives the Toon Army another ground to tick off their list in the never ending tour with the Ricoh Arena yet to experience the Geordie Nation.

And former Toon defender Ray Ranson will also be smiling with the Coventry owner getting the tie he wanted.

If Milner goes, there's an indication of the ownership's knowledge and interest in the game.

Just what the flip is going on at SJP I have never known a regime at the club drag their feet on signings like this lot.
Big Sam complained about it last year and its being repeated again.
I can remember a time when NUFC championed signings nice and early to sell season tickets and create waiting lists.
I tell you what, if this club does not get a top 8 finish this season they will only need 3 stands next time around.
And at the current speed of preparation staff wise, half way house beckons.
Whats happening with coloccini?....is big Mike waiting for spurs to pull him out?....the other fiasco Guitars when is he going to be available.
What with injuries and other clubs starting to crawl over our players this doesnt spark off any enthusiasm at all.
Other clubs have struck with lightening fast decision and moved on and forward sharply.Us we are dead in the water.
Just plenty of hosing up by KK on the backs of his players trying to inspire a positive start.
The place is as flat as the lager in the ground.

I 100 percent back up what Revo wrote, the current ownership is a joke and thats putting it mildly, yesterday we were given some hope that we had wrapped up a decent midfielder in Tiago, then surprise surprise today we are being told we cant agree what percentage of wages we are going to pay, and the mighty Everton are trying to hijack the deal. And of course Collocini, not a peep out of the club regarding this player, has he signed???, or is Ashley still trying to tie him down on minimum wage?? This same problem has happened with Modric, and Aimar, 2 class act players. Honestly the way things are going, ive gave up on any new signings arriveing, and of course Milner will be off, taking Ashleys net spending to about £6 million, depending on what sources u read, for a man who has 1.9 Billion to his name that is just unacceptable. We deserve more than this, 50 thousand plus turning up to watch paint dry deserves a team to be proud of. In all honesty at the moment, i can see Kevin walking mid-season, along with thousands of fans. Yes we really are going to "have some fun" this season arnt we Mr Ashley.

George Graham made some interesting comments about the TOON on TalkSport Radio yesterday morning and it was pretty negative!!.I don't think the Geordie Cognoscenti will accept this rubbish from Ashley. If this is his idea of "FUN" then God help us!!.

A banana skin? Coventry must be relishing this tie, with the town in total disarray, they must fancy themselves The Doncaster game proves we need to be aware. Fat Mike, what a joke I've been saying it all year and nobody listens he in it for the bucks and he wants us to cry because he didn't do due dilligence and wants us to think the Hall's rip him off, he bought to make money and sell, of that there is no doubt
