Beye, Enrique, Taylor, Collicini, Cacapa, Edgar, Bassong (Geremi, Nzogbia), Mid - Lua Lua, Butt, Guthrie, Barton, Geremi, Nzogbia, Guttirez, Gonzales, Duff (Smith). fwds - Owen, Viduka, Martins, Xisco, Carroll, Ameobi, Smith. 1 defender short unless Tozer or someone comes through and maybe lacking a bit creativity, but we haven't seen Gonzales yet. Throw in the KK factor, which is already apparent in style and attitude, we will not have a huge allardyce type slump like last year and will be better in terms of points and position. Top 10 for me, 2 years to challenge for top 6, top 4 probably out of reach now that citeh have been redeemed. Get used to it and enjoy the KK rollercoaster. Forget the press, they're building the club from the bottom and will not waste cash on arseholes. What they have they inherited from FF and his cronies, give it time and it will turn round.

What an absolute shambles. I lost a lot of respect for Keegan when he tried to tell us that it was his decision to sell Milner only 48 hours after he'd insisted he didn't even want to think about losing the player. Keegan's promises of new signings before the deadline then seemed very empty and so it turned out to be the case. In the event Milner was sold for £10 million or so just to fund the purchase of one solitary player for half that ammount. I thought we'd seen the last of this sell before you buy policy back in the dark days of Seymour and McKeag, and certainly didn't expect it from a billionaire owner who claims to have such big ambitions from our club.

Newcastle United's net transfer spend over the summer window is ABSOLUTELY ZERO which for a club of our stature and supposed ambition is a disgrace. The squad we have now is even more threadbare than the one that we barely avoided relegation with last season. Another long hard painful season looms ahead of us, with a guaranteed bottom half of the table finish at best. Thanks for nothing, Ashley.

Ok hears my thoughts and what other people have said.

Yes it is same old Newcastle and yes we are desperate for left backs and stuff. But I think people need to get out of this fairy tale world and look at the club.

We finished 13th no europe nothing. Who is going to come to a club like that??

Now we have some good signings we gained and promising ones to which I am happy about. Colocinni, Spiderman, Guthrie all look promising.
And also the contract extension on Taylor and possible Owen. (praying for that one)

My opinion on the Milner sale if he wants to go and hand in his transfer request then what can you do, if he wants to go let him. His heart wasnt in it or the club and you cant force him to stay, He is only a kid.

With strikers, yes we do need strikers and fit ones too. Martins gets injured a bit, Viduka is just a injury hazard waiting to happen, owen is a ticking time bomb and what can I say about smith, well hes not much of a stiker at the moment. So I am all up for a new young striker if he puts in the performance.
Next thing we want is that lump Heskey or Thiery Henry who is spending most his time injured to, we will end up get a repeat Alberto Luque.

I am still looking forward to this season as every season, I am just looking at the brite side of things and I think we will do alright this season.

You cant tell me teams like villa, stoke, Everton or any of them other than top four look any better than us at the moment.

Bottom half - miserable season - a disgrace

Man City have ruined football. Just when chelsea were slowing down and refusing to spend stupid money again, man city come along and do exactly that. That's going to force chelsea, man u, liverpool, arsenal etc to spend big to compete and leave the rest in a MASSIVE gulf below.

I dont want mike ashley to go out and spend 50m on one player - it's destroying the game. So we'll be in the next group either replying on youth or spending over the odds for average players - im 2 years time we'll probably be able to flog Ameobi for 10m as top players will be 100m+.

On our transfer day though, dunno anything about these 2 we got in but we still needed a left and right back so thats disappointing. Finnan for 1.5m would've been nice. he's old but can still do a job on either side short term and possible £5m for Stephen Hunt? I didn't see much of James Milner's money being spent. Ah well.

In a word NO United didnt do enough in this transfer window, people are saying we only sold one good player during the summer in James Milner, but i thought Ab Faye didnt really put a foot wrong last season and was possibly our best central defender last season. Looking back on the players we sold i wish Milner, Faye and Emre were still here because we have failed to replace any of them. We still desperately need a left back as Enrique is injured and is still taking some time to get up to speed in the premiership, a creative midfielder was never signed either with Pablo Aimar the ideal replacement for Emre. I have never heard of either Xisco or Gonzalez but lets hope they are of the same kind of quality as Spiderman and Coloccini because they are going to need to be, with us staring down the barrel of another relegation dog fight this season. If Mike Ashley had half of the ambition of Keegan we would have signed some top quality players this summer, but instead the Newcastle squad is looking very threadbare with no real cover at both full back positions, and lacking pace and quality in the offensive positions, how we could have done with Shaun Wright-Phillips and Pablo Aimar. Ashley promised much but delivered very little, i am not holding my breath for the next transfer window as we'll do nowt in that either. SELL UP NOW ASHLEY YOU CLEARLY CANNOT HANDLE NUFC.

The only WOW thing this morning is just how short-memoried, fickle and gullible so many of the Toon Army are. Some of you are even saying Fat Fred was better, for Chrissakes. No wonder people laugh at us.

1. When did Ashley promise a 'wow signing'? That was something put to KK on the spot in a live interview and was never substantiated. STOP BEING SO GULLIBLE!! How many times have the press been right about anything NUFC-related this summer? Nil. Write out 100 lines: "If it ain't a direct quote, it's garbage." Learn, people.

2. When Ashley first got in, the message was clear: improve the club steadily and sustainably, over a few years:
Step 1 - Get the club out of financial turmoil. Enter Chris Mort. Tick.
Step 2 - Get back to playing the way the Toon should. Enter KK. Tick.
Step 3 - STOP BUYING USELESS HEADLINE-GRABBING PLAYERS. Bloody TICK, people!!

Of course we're disappointed, and I'm sure KK is gutted that the team's efforts to get a good left-back and others in didn't work. But look at the 4 signings we've seen. Now assume the latest 2 are as good. Would you have taken that at the end of last season?

Look at the bulk of the comments above. Is it any wonder the majority of the country now sees us as joke fans? Of course we can't turn into a top 4 club overnight. Of course we can't bring in the 'wow' signing when we're not even in the UEFA cup.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. We bring in some solid signings. Which we have. Now King Kev to steer us to a top 8 position by xmas, jostling for a European slot. THEN we can think about bringing in the 'wow' signing. Any big name players we sign now will be in it purely for the money. Nowt else. Of course the lack of cover for certain positions is worrying but again, what to do? Bring in another Babayaro? Ask Stephen Carr if he wouldn't mind awfully coming back to the toon? Of course not. We're just gonna have to stick it out and show some good old fashioned backbone.

So. Grow up boys. We're in an infinitely different position now than last season or the season before. We're playing or at least attempting to play 'carpet' football as opposed to the hideous long ball style of Fat Sam. And we've got an owner with a bit of business sense who won't waste his hard earned and is in the process of totally restructuring the club from bottom to top.

You know what? If Keegan HAS gone, i take back everything i've said. We ARE a joke club and Ashley IS an idiot of this is true.

Definitely disapointing. However we should trust Keegan with the signings he's made. Has he been wrong so far? Everyone he's signed has been quality. We have'nt got a left back but hopefully there is january. As a lot of us have said we don't have europe and we don't have a multi billionaire owner to convine the likes of Robinho. It's going to be a long process of building up to the top and it's now been made harder with Man City. All these owners are going to ruin the premiership. Chelsea were starting to be sensible but now we have Man City who will just buy everyone. We have Keegan thats all we need. We will get the wow signings when we are established at the top again. It is a shame we didn't get Saviola though I think he would've been a great purchase.

After a promising start to Deadline Day yesterday I was pretty optimistic that we'd end up with the 4 or 5 Keegan said we were in for after the sale of Milner, so it was disappointing to only end up with the two which were reported early on.

I'm disappointed we didn't get a higher profile signing, or a couple of names we know from the Premier League, but I wouldn't want the club to go throwing £30m at the likes of Robinho or Berbatov. In Man City's case I wouldn't mind, where it's coming from unimaginable middle-eastern riches, but certainly not the way Shepherd would've done it.

I would, however, have liked to have a seen another £10-15m signing, but would we want a player to join us just because he didn't have anywhere else to go like Robinho has? I wouldn't.

I'm more concerned about the Keegan rumours. Keegan is by far the best thing the club has at this moment in time and the only chance we have of getting a top 8 finish. Top 6 will be very tough now given our injury record.

Furthermore, while the aim the management has of stopping the purchase of these big name failures is a good one, the way they seem to be implementing it is all wrong. The manager of a club should never be learning of the club's intentions through post-match interviews and the like.

There are two keys to our season and immediate future:

1. The rumours this morning are wrong and Keegan stays.
2. Our injury record improves.

Provided these two things happen, we can still finish top 8 and build on that. But unless our luck improves with injuries I'm afraid we'll struggle.

One thing I don't want to see though is everyone start holding out for January because, let's face it, not much tends to happen in January.

No doubt the club were trying to sign more players and could not do so.

The last time we had KK he was the one who made Newcastle an attractive place for people like Alan Shearer. It was KK who changed the club from a selling club to a buying one. He it was who had the team playing so wonderfully that Newcastle had to be rationed for TV coverage.

I am sure that he would have attracted the people he wanted if allowed to do so. But Denis Wise? Not a chance.

I think it was John Beresford who said, ' Get KK involved in the transfer process'. He was dead right.

According to BBC Radio Newcastle, Kevin Keegan has left Newcastle United this morning after a meeting yesterday with club owner Mike Ashley...

While these reports remain unconfirmed, BBC Radio Five Live has since repeated the information on a national level.

However, such rumours have circulated before. It is known that Ashley and Keegan enjoy something of a fiery relationship, although all previous talk of a resignation has been proven false.

Keegan is said to have grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of control at the club, while his relationship with the board continued to strain.

The Northern Echo claim that Ashley's decision to recruit only two players on the last day of the summer window was a key component in Kevin Keegan's desire to leave.

'King Kev' had oft stated his belief to the board that he needed at least four or five new players, especially in the wake of the visit to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday where he was forced to field Ameobi, who hadn't played football for nine months, and name a bench littered with teenagers and Joey Barton.

The sale of James Milner too, has also been cited as a possible reason for the departure of Keegan, who believed the now Villa wideman to be a crucial player in any success the Magpies were to enjoy this season.
