Camels on the A66 and soggy Wigan pies - it's all part of the parcel covering the Toon reserves
Newcastle United fans could say they have seen it all in recent weeks but a three strong car of Geordies heading to Wigan for the Magpies' latest reserve team road trip have more to add to a growing list.
The camel spotted on the A66 eating grass in the rain was only the start of a quirky night in Wigan as Newcastle snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against the Latics.
A rain lashed Tuesday night in Wigan is not everybody's idea of a good night out but for the Newcastle young guns they have continued their development, albeit with a 2-1 loss in the FA Premier Reserve League.
For the record a Nile Ranger wonder strike wasn't enough for the Toon second string, who lost their shape after England Under-17 star Ryan Donaldson was stretchered off with an ankle injury.
After Ranger's fourth goal in two games, goals from Joe Holt and Jonathan Routledge handed Wigan a win they probably didn't deserve as Newcastle squandered a pile of chances.
With Steve Harper playing his first game since the Mallorca Tournament, the experienced keeper spent time quizzing Toon youngsters if they were actually born when he first appeared at reserve team level!
Harper pulled off some great saves between the posts and almost levelled with a header in the dying stages after venturing forward for a corner.
A rain soaked Harper and his young colleagues headed home after a valuable lesson for stand-in reserve team gaffer Richard Money's kids who left flabbergasted that his side hadn't won it.

We need to give this young Nile a run on in the first team if he's popping them in
If only every Newcastle United player was like Stevie Harper in his approach aye. What a champion.
Well done to all the young lads, and a big pat on the back to right back on the night Conner Newton.
