For Sale signs are still hanging over St James's Park

The latest chapter of the Newcastle United soap opera has revealed little more in terms of where the club is going and nothing that will have shocked most Toon fans.

For many it's accepted that if the club is finally sold then it will be likely to go to a foreign owner who comes in to try their luck at selling Newcastle United as a global brand.

Whether that's a good thing remains to be seen and although sale broker Keith Harris hinted to fans that
Kevin Keegan doesn't look like he's making a return - there are bigger worries than that right now on Tyneside, such as relegation.

Nobody will be holding their breath that a saviour is on the way to pull off some type of miracle, staying up and rebuilding is more realistic.

It wasn't that long ago since Mike Ashley shocked the world to arrive in Toon with hopes high that the billionaire's masterplan could take the club back to where Geordie supporters believe it belongs.

Nobody on Tyneside needs reminding how it all went so wrong, so quickly.

But what price a repeat?

A repeat of somebody trying to sell the club to make a profit - which many United fans believe has been the case with the current regime.

The other side of the coin is somebody with the right intentions and the right ideas comes in and the For Sale signs outside SJP are quickly hauled down.

At the moment though it's just a case of hanging on.

But how long can you keep people hanging on?

Results are important at the moment and while the club remains on five points, and in the bottom three the possibility of relegation and a major walkout by the Toon's top stars remains a reality.

Many teams that have started the season in the same way in recent years are no longer playing in the Premier League right now and haven't returned to the top flight.

But in keeping with the madness, Newcastle probably have the right man to help them get out of trouble in Joe Kinnear.

The ex-Wimbledon boss has certainly lifted spirit at the training ground and if he walks the walk the way he talks the talk, who knows what could happen.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

I don't think anyone would have tipped Joe to be at SJP but you never know he could be the right man for the job, time well tell.

im not to concerned about the sale at this moment in time, it's the injury owen appears to have picked up, this will be more worrying, if it means he will be missing for around a month, i have known players pick up as many injurys than our club over such a long period of time.
we shall see what xisco has to offer if owen is out and more importantly get used to it as he ain,t gonna be around much longer.

The way I read it this guy Harris has not said KK is not coming back, he's just stated the obvious 'that none of the potential buyers has made it a condition' Quite how it would be a condition is bizarre to say the least as Ashley has no say. This man who has Newcastle at heart or so he tells us should get the money back he paid, the money he spent out of his own pocket and nowt else. If he's also looking to make a profit as is being suggested, the man is lower than low after what he's done in the 8 months since he made his one good decision. I even read somewhere he hasn't actually paid off the debts, only underwritten them. Someone please tell me this can't be true ? If he is trying to drag it out to spite us, the ante has to be raised in terms of protest otherwise it's curtains for us in the PL. Much as I admire JK for taking us lot on, I can't be going with this optimism after the Everton result. Reading the rubbish spouted by the Sky Sports forum people (fresh from their TV interviews & bedsheet scribbling outside the ground by the intelligence in the threads)you would think we still had a chance of Europe.Remember JK was the man who gave a team talk before the Blackburn game followed by the worst 45 minutes we've played this season (which is quite a feat considering the other candidates). Everton are a poor side and should have been beaten, never mind having to come back from 2 down.Proof of their poorness was allowing old 'Byname' to notch so let's not get lulled into not concerning ourselves with this sale, if it does not happen quickly the future is disastrous
