Blog on the Tyne at the big derby match

By Lee Ryder on Jan 31, 09 07:08 PM

A PENALTY from Shola Ameobi rescued a point for Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby, and Blog on the Tyne was at the game to bring you regular updates.

Both clubs have flirted with the relegation zone this season and both were desperate for three points to pull themselves away from the pack at the foot of the table.

Djibril Cisse was played in by Malbranque and he slotted home for 1-0 on 32 minutes to leave the Newcastle fans biting their nails.

But Newcastle won a penalty on 67 minutes when Malbranque tripped Taylor and Shola stepped up to smash it past Fulop and make it 1-1.

How ashley dare wear the b+w scarf is beyond me. He has watched the team he's failed to invest in struggle against another bad team. Everyone will fancy their chances against us at St.James'.

We were awful, we have no pace and no creativity along with a poor defence. We had to rely on a penalty to get a proper strike at goal!
What is wrong with xitzo?? A fit striker again overlooked, yet we play ameba that just fell off the physio's bench. He still didnt get a chance with lovenkrands picked over him as sub!!

We never close the opposition down, there is no desire to make clever runs from anyone. We don't put in any decent crosses or get enough men into the box to help the strikers.
The window is about to close and so too is our prem lge status, our team is just not good enough!

Pity about the so-called Sunderland fans who dropped stuff on the Newcastle fans in the Leazes end. Pity about the so-called Newcastle fans who taunted the police because they wouldn't let them confront the Sunderland fans. Who you going to call when your fat necked neighbour breaks into your house for some drug money?
