Trophy wait goes on for Toon Army
It's all over for the Toon Army in the FA Cup following the 1-0 defeat by Hull.
United were downed by a Daniel Cousin goal 10 minutes from time to make it another season with no silverware.
I was at the game giving regular updates on Blog on the Tyne.

Well, this just about sums it up. Two home games vs. Hull and two defeats! Let's hope that Toon can put it over on one of the Yorkshire teams (Hull & Boro) and scrape past relegation. Otherwise Owen will be playing at 2nd tier grounds (no other club will want his wage bill). Big Joe is no better than Big Sam.
Its good to see that once again when we need cash for players so badly Mr Ashley slides all the money the toon faithfull spends at the stadium and shops goes straight into his back pocket or bank account. At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
Hull City Reserves huh?...............Well?........What's next?
The greatest pity of all is that the result last night may well have saved our season.
Ignore for a minute the bleatings of JFK about the number of injuries we have. Look instead at our line-up last night. No-one can tell me that a team with the likes of Owen, Jonas, Duff, Coloccini, Given and Butt in its ranks - all highly experienced internationals and solid pros - isn't capable of beating Hull. In fact, Hull's reserves. AT HOME! We should be bloody annihilating them. The players out injured are a complete irrelevance.
Then, to hear JFK on MOTD saying that he was 'delighted with our performance' ... WTF IS GOING ON AT OUR CLUB?!
We all know Ashley is a liar and a charlatan. We all know the sooner he leaves the better. But please, no more talk of JFK doing a good job. He's bloody hopeless. Tactically inept. Oblivious to the mood of his own dressing room. Intent on nothing more than improving his own employability once Ashley finally effs off.
Now, look down the list of current premier league managers. I can think of only 2 that I wouldn't GLADLY swap for JFK.
How far we have fallen. I couldn't give a stuff about silverware. I'd just like a little pride back.
As a Newcastle fan all my life, I look at the club now and think where are we going, my self I think we will be relegated,
If you look at the fixtures for Newcastle over the next month it is very worrying, and what I mean by that is we struggled to beat West Ham at home???
Blackburn vs Newcastle
Man City vs Newcastle
Newcastle vs Sunderland
Bolton vs Newcastle
Newcastle vs Man Utd
Hull vs Newcastle
Newcastle vs Arsenal
Can any honestly tell we can win any of the above games?
MY GENUINE FEELING IS THAT WILL ARE GOING SLIDE EVEN DEEPER IN TROUBLES IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE, I DO SEE US BEEN RELEGATED, SIMPLY AS I HAVE SAID ON NUMEROUS OCCASION ARE PEFORMANCES ARE SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH, I KEEP HEARING ABOUT THE INJURIES WE HAVE, BUT IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR YEARS NOW, NOT JUSTTHIS SEASON, AND IT SIMPLY DONT BELIEVE ALL THE PLAYERS INJURIES ARE GENUINE, THERE IS SOMETHING DRASTICALLY WRONG, I HATE TO KEEP HARPING ON ABOUT KK'S FIRST TIME IN CHARGE, BUT HARDLY ANY PLAYERS WENT MISSING THROUGH INJURY, THIS IN IT SELF TELLS IT'S OWN STORY,EVEN WHEN BOBBY SERVED US SO WELL I CAN ONLY RECALL CARL CORT AND DYER GOING INJURED REGULAR.
MY OWN THOUGHTS AE THAT PLAYERS WANTED TO PLAY FOR THESE GREAT MEN AND THE MANAGERS AFTER AND IN BETWEEN THESE HAVE COME ACROSS SOMEWHAT DOUR AND THE THE FOOTBALL PLAYED UNDER THESE WAS DOUR.
SO IF WE NEED TO BE RELEGATED TO RID OURSELVES OF ASHLEYS REGIME THEN SO BE IT, BECAUSE I TRUELY BELIEVE SOMEONE WILL COME IN AND GRAB A BARGAIN IN BUYING OUR CLUB, WE NEED SOMETHING DRASTIC TO HAPPEN TO RID THIS CANCER THAT IS RUNING THROUGH THE CLUB FOR TO LONG TO REMEMBER.
OF ALL THE FIXTURES I ONLY SEE US PICKING UP A MAX OF 4 TO 5 POINTS AND IF WE LOSE TO THE MACKEMS WERE FINISHED AND I THINK JK WILL BE FINISHED COMPLETELY.
MY HOPE IS COME THE END OF THE SEASON IF WE ARE RELEGATED OR NOT AND EVEN WORSE ASHLEY IS STILL HERE, IS THAT HE COMES TO HIS SENSES BIG TIME, AND BRINGS IN STEVE BRUCE AND LETS HIM BUILD THE CLUB THE WAY HE WOULD LIKE TO.
HE HAS BROUGHT SOME FANTASTIC PLAYERS TO WIGAN, EVEN GOT BRAMBLE LOOKING LIKE A CENTRE HALF.
BRUCEY HAS IMPROVED YEAR AFTER YEAR SINCE HE HAS BECOME A MANAGER, LEARNT BY HIS MISTAKES, IS HONEST AS THEY COME.
I REALLY THINK STEVE BRUCE IS ROAD WE SHOULD BE GOING DOWN.

Sorry Terry - we struggled to DRAW with West Ham at home.
By my reckoning the Baggies and Stoke are in it as deep as us.
Portsmouth must be in trouble (we beet them away) so we got to draw/lose by as small as possible a margin the rest of our games.
I havent been as depressed as this since we sold SuperMac
Last night confirmed what I've felt for a while, that our central midfield is just not good enough. While Guthrie tries to get forward and support the attack on occasions, he doesn't have the quality in the final 3rd. Our midfield needs freshening up, certainly at home anyway, where the onus is on us to create chances and put teams under pressure. Remember the days under Sir Bob when we played Dyer in central midfield? I think N'Zogbia can fill that role at home now, possibly alongside Guthrie who could play deeper. Charlie can go past people and drive at a defence from the middle of the park, something we currently don't have. All good sides possess an attacking threat in the centre. If you don't, its too easy for the opposition to just double up on your wide men and neutralise your attacking threat. If we're going to get out of the relegation dogfight we need big 3 pointers, and the best chance of those is at home. Granted, my suggestion would make us a bit more open, but I think overall we'd pick up more wins, which would justify the odd loss we may incur along the way. Home draws won't get us out of trouble.
Let's just be honest with ourselves..
When haven't Newcastle shot themselves in the foot?
That probably accounts for the injured players..
'What's wrong with you today?'
'Shot myself in the foot, gaffer...'
AS ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!
The next three weeks are the most important period in the clubs history. For years we have been subjected to big claims of signings, usually following defeats like last night, so let us wait until Feb 2nd. so see what MA intentions are. I myself have just been marking time, first whilst he sold the club, that failed, so now we await signings. Failure in this area should result in complete boycotts of every avenue of his revenue.
Well yet another dismal defeat to a hull reserve side, as many fans have posted, there is no excuse, the team we had out, should have beaten Hull, and progressed, again, another wasted season.
This kinnear is a joke, spends more time swearing and getting into trouble, than he does getting the team right, KK warned of the squad issues, but ashley was more intent on asset stripping, and now we find ourselves in a whole.
Can anyone say hand on heart, they are confident going into the run in, with kinnear in charge, that we can avoide relegation.
Pray for a miracle, we finish 4th from bottom.
Leaving the ground last night, I joked to my mate, 'at least we can concentrate on the title and Europe now'. But seriously, it is our main concern now to grind out points for survival. In truth, with the team we had on the field last night and the percentage of possession and goal opportunities in comparison to Hull's, we didn't do too badly. Sure we lacked the cutting edge but with Xisco alongside MO it was understandable. MO had very hard luck as did Xisco, it's actually dead easy to blast a sitter over the bar under pressure, the t.v. archives are chocker with soccer greats doing just that, but the lads didn't deserve being booed off for their effort. Even Hull's goal wasn't a defensive fiasco, more like very fortuitously falling just right for them. Joe's sending off was the ref wanting to be a prima-donna like many others'. He's definitely got a case for workplace victimisation, and Phil Brown is a self-hating Geordie, or sand-dancer who wil be thrilled that he got Joe banned again. On a lighter note, if this Gomis deal comes off it will be a master coup as he's nothing short of dynamic. I watched your youtube link on his two great goals....
which were nowt compared to his goals on another link I discovered. He's like Drogba on steroids, with Exocets in his boots. Check this out Lee, and freinds ........

ronnie lambert - don't get too excited about what you see on youtube, mate. I remember Albert Luque looking a class player on there too!
Supporting Newcastle United is breaking my heart.
Just when you think it can't get any worse....
I'm sorry to say this - embarrassed even - but after 30+ years I find I'm getting to the point where I don't care any more. Or am I just kidding myself. I'm not sure.
If anyone thinks Gomis is going to save us, think again. Two swallows don't make a summer and anyone who has watched him apart from those two goals will know he is a carthorse. Think Stephan Guivarche.
Looking at the performances of late you have to wonder if the confidence isn't completely gone. The little run they put together pre Xmas offered some light, but confidence is clearly paper-thin and the Liverpool game has set them back weeks. Ashley, despite his programme notes, clearly doesn't want the club anymore and is loathe to lose any more money than he already has, the fans seem to be losing interest for the first time in years, but most of all the players and even JK (given some of his comments of late) seem to be disillusioned and losing interest.
Will the last one in SJP please turn out the lights. Sad and worrying times.
Big Toon fan......Just don't care anymore......bored with the lack of success.....bored with Man U winning all the time......Bored with over paid players....bored with rubbish managers......one good thing though but....I think we all realise that we,re not a big team anymore and strangly enough this may help in the future....good luck lads!
I have just heard Mike Ashley is to speak to the press at the end of the month,
I think he should also go and speak to the players and try and build some confidence in the team.
Glen Gregory...of course son, I remember looking at half a dozen great prospects during last summer's window, it kept me going as the time slipped frustratingly by. None of them appeared in any of the premiership's clubs which said something about their true pedigree, and I did concede the fact that you could just about concoct a sensational video about Ameobi with his 2 headers against Sunderland and a few other goals. I'm not daft Glen, but I am by nature an optimist, and after the disappointment of last night, Lee's Gomis video was a crumb of comfort. It's a part of being a Newcastle supporter for 48 yrs, always hoping. Mind you mate, this latest report about Ashley being at the training ground and ready to issue a statement on Feb.1st. to us all is like waiting outside the headmaster's office for a caning, and I look forward to that with as much anticipation as a dentist's date for root-canal filling. I don't trust or respect him at all and long for his departure with great eagerness.
Thanks mike for the supposed ã8mil you're so generously donating to us. What are we supposed to buy with that? Oneill from west ham, christ, who is choosing our targets? I'd still go for bullard over this cameroon fella, dont think he'd come now though!
Gomis, just what we need, another bloke watched on video, I saw some american kid on youtube do 100+ keep ups, maybe we should sign him!
Appropriate that ashley is speaking after the window shuts. Hopefully its to say hes put us back us for sale. Infact mike, just keep the 8 mil, take it off your asking price and just F*** off.
Hang on a minute..we hear all of this rubbush about injuries and players wanting to leave but up till now I hadn't realised there is one line we haven't heard.......not one of our players saying "hey its our fault we are not playing well enough". They are quick enough to pick up their large pay packets paid for by hard working class fans like ourselves. I am sick of hearing about the injuries and the "ow the players are suffering under the current disruption" what a crock...I would take 100 times more flack for their wages. What I want to see is player step up to the plate and say "there are a bunch of fans out there fighting for their club from the stands and its about time I did it on the pitch"
But hey is Owen our Capt (LOL) going to do it..yer right. Big Nose neil on SSNews went on after the LFC match how Owen was starved..well how about he worked of the ball and joined the rest of the team. I have said it before and I will say it again we have no leader on the pitch and certainly no leader at the back as Taylor and Couco run around like headless chickens.
I would like to point out to JK that Roeder had a load of players out and turn a bad season into a european qualifying season..hang on he needs a job, someone give him a call will you.
Does anyone remember 16th January 2008?!!!!!
Bob, of course we do mate, we all read nufc .com.
Seriously fellas does anyone really hold out any hope for our dying club?
The current administration said when they came in not to expect anymore expensive 'quick fixes'. Instead they're looking at cheap fixes and freebies not wanted by other clubs. It really breaks fans hearts, not that the team is losing, but the ineptitude of the way the club is run. I run a small business, if I refused to invest when i needed to and never ever talked honestly to any of my customers i would have to close in about a week.
For Ashley to issue a statement saying forward together (to the press) and then three weeks later to dilly dally round the transfer window and only release funds when his arm is twisted is nothing short of laughable.
I WAS PREPARED TO GIVE HIM A SECOND CHANCE, BUT HE HAS BLOWN IT ALREADY.
Gomis looks good, but without a good team around him he will look like every other one of our forwards, toothless.
NUFC has now become a joke to the people who care about it most, Ashley out, Sack the board.
