Make war not love
No matter what way you look at Newcastle United's trip to Hull City failure to step up to the plate and battle at the KC Stadium will leave the Mags in a tricky situation come teatime tomorrow night.
Nicky Butt called it spot on when he said that each and every game between the end of the season is now a big battle but United must walk the walk or be left facing a high price.
Make no doubt about it Phil Brown would love to be the one that presses the button to release the relegation trapdoor which drops United into the bottom three at such a crucial time.
And with the South Shields lad already admitting there is "no room for sentiment", in a season of sick twists to the plot, victory for Hull would be right up there with some of the things that Toon fans have endured this season.
No matter what happens at the Riverside in Middlesbrough game with Portsmouth, if Hull win tomorrow then Newcastle will sink into the bottom three.
Relying on others to mess up has gone. Newcastle reach the point this weekend when they must start winning themselves.
For many sinking into the bottom three is inevitable and it would be considered a major psychological blow with difficult home games with Arsenal and Chelsea on the way.
But now, more than ever, Newcastle players will have to match Brown's side in the battle that lies ahead.
Just like they stopped the rot a two years ago against Sheffield United to calm the waters and just like they did at home to Fulham last season.
Now is the time United.

You're right Lee, now is the time but I'm sad to say that this club has no backbone and is not up for the fight. Its a disgarce and a crying shame that the real stakeholders (the fans) will be the ones hurting most and longest after the well paid stars have gone to rich pastures new.
R.I.P. the Toon
its a funny season, our form hasn't really changed over most of it but hull's form has. they have been found out and they've dropped like a stone.. we need to play like the team we really are. its a big game for every player especially the international players amongst us. hopefully not too many changes. the back four is ok. if anything i'd like to see RT on the bench butt and duff back in at some point. I can honestly see us winning this 2or3 -0
With the quality we have, and the obvious fight that is within this team that was displayed against ManU, I really don't see a tie as possibility, let alone a loss. Hull have been able to snub the points away from us all season long, and it's about time for some vengeance. Let the boys loose again Chris!
are you joking we wont beat hull i seem to remember you writing an article lee about how we should of signed jimmy bullard well lets be honest we couldnt even compete with them for his signature so how the hell are we going to beat them on their own turf they have already beaten us twice this season.like many clubs hull are a far bigger club than we are and every geordie knows it.championship here we come R.I.P NEWCASTLE UNITED.
Colin, are you a Mackem in disguise? Hull a bigger club than Newcastle? I don't know which world you live in but it certainly isn't the real world. We don't need people like you at this or any time.
Let's hope the lads give a decent performance at Hull & give us a chance of surviving. We need 100% from every player & fan. Keep believing.
As for Colin.......you are the weakest link........let's hope it's goodbye to you!
Hope our players fight like real men and win it.
It's high time now.
Do or Die Newcastle......
Come on!!, lets give those tigers such a bashing that they turn into cats.
