Disgruntled Toon troops are making a cry for help
Habib Beye, Steve Harper, Steven Taylor, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan - all of them have played top flight football and all of them have played in Europe.
Therefore all of them know what it takes to play at the highest level and all of them are fully entitled to make their feelings known.
It was always inevitable that Toon players would come out and have their say about the situation and none them took much persuasion to be interviewed on Saturday night in Dublin.
If anything, it can only be described as a cry for help from the United players although many will point the finger at them for getting us into this mess in the first place.
True, it can be accepted that with four managers in one season and all of the trouble and strife that went with the 2008/09 season - United were always heading for a fall.
But in keeping with the madness at St James's what price the pleas from United's bewildered troops fall on dead ears?
Yet another sad chapter of the Toon crisis that continues to make Newcastle look like a laughing stock.
And while the players can escape the fans don't have that option.
The mess continues...

just when things cant get worse...a man named charlie chawke throws his hat into the ring...you really cant make this farce up.
I cannot believe anyone being taken in by the so called Irish bid. Groups wanting to buy the club had a deadline to meet, had to prove they were in a position to buy - then they were given the books to look at. Two of the groups have since bid the asking price, (according to the Ashley puppet). Now an Irish landlord is scratching some of his mates together to see if they can come up with £100m to buy the club. Another waste of time by the newspapers to fill the deathly hush coming from SJP. Wake up and smell the coffee!
The players played a huge part in getting us into this mess in the first place so they can belt up as far as I'm concerned and just get on with what they get paid handsomely to do. These players, particularly the likes of Kevin Nolan who contributed absolutely nothing last season, aren't entitled to an opinion I don't think. They should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
The player's job now is to get on with training and preparing for the new season as best they can, regardless of what might happen with the club or whether they might be sold in a few days/weeks.
The way I see it, fans who have had to put up with this joke over the past few years have more right than players to come out and say that it's unacceptable etc.
Not that it makes much difference anyway with Ashley clearly not listening to anyone or caring about anything.
I'm sick of checking the news every day to discover no progress has been made at all or looks even likely.
I honestly think we'll do a Leeds if this continues for another few weeks.
You might think this is crazy,
But I hope it does not get to the stage where this is dragging on so long because of Ashleys demands,That all the interested Parties decide to pull out and Ashley puts the club into receivership ??????????
IT COULD HAPPEN
Nolan? That's rich.
Arseley is not going to sell. This is a repeat of mid-season. Where just before the transfer window closes he will announce that he can't sell, and we will be left with the dregs again.
Get your self together lads! I know you can play football, and so do you !
I'll come and cheer you a couple of times next season, and we'll hope for the best!
Keep your hopes up!
Ashley will delay and delay, until he sells to the only buyer that does not want AS as manager, so the new guy will have no time to settle in and to sign anyone, thus giving us the final kick in the teeth, and make us struggle all next year. What a moron this man is.

Here here. If it wasn't already there, it's now getting completely ridiculous to the point where I couldn't give a damn about anything coming out of the club until this saga is completely OVER.
has anyone thought that ashley might be doing this on purpose , to ruin the club before selling. Ask dave whelan about ashley holding grudges.
well another draws to a end and as far as i can see there are no new developements, this is gone beyond a joke it is so so sad at what m ashley/wise and lambias have done to our club, we are the butt of jokes nation wide......they are'nt going to sell and before we all know we will go bust PLEASE GOD SAVE US FROM THIS MESS......THANK YOU ASHLEY THE SECRET SUNDERLAND FAN YOU ARE A BLOODY JOKE
Jack I completely agree, the players have got us here and Nolan's foul in about his second game in, totally stuffed us! far worse than JB tackle at the end of the season, ST -over rated, Houlio geordieO - over weight most of the season (6.5m eh?) Curly Argie -at least he played but he was in charge of defence after coming in for 10m and an international? Spider man couldn't climb a lamp post! MO -weight lifted of the toons shoulders, OM good when he fancies it! I think SA and JB will be our best players next season (sadly). MA -will he sell the club? doubt it! will he put anymore money in? doubt it! will Shearer be manager? doubt it! will Derik lambsarse stiLl Look like sid little on a 7-NIGHT-A-WEEK pie and chip supper -probably!
These are dark days my friends and I fear there are darker to come. Maybe we should put MA in goal as it appears he seems to deflect every decent shot away from SJP. I do fear for the future of our club and I dont mean this season but our long term future, if we dont fix this now then as alrady said we WILL become the next leeds only worse I think. MA has made a once mighty club the laughing stock of the footballing world. If he feared the back lash of over the KK sacking then what is he expecting now? He needs to realise that the B&W Fans have a proud fighting tradition and we are always prepared to stand up and be counted. MA look around you the fortress is cumbling and the vultures are circuling. Are you really that stupid, blind or both.
Also, I know it's only a headline etc but calling these absolute wasters 'troops' suggests that they are hard working, loyal and good at fighting in a tough situation. All qualities I think we can all agree that these players most certainly do not have.
I disagree, Lee, that the players you mentioned are "fully entitled to make their feelings known." I can accept Harper and ,to an extent, Taylor coming out and saying things because they have been here a long time and have earned the right to give an opinion. I just feel contempt and anger when the rest of these clowns that helped get us into this mess (and are still getting paid a fortune) think they can go spouting off to the media.
It's such a shame that even the local press aren't given any proper information at the minute which means that nothing can be believed.
Llambias came out the other day and said something about "more than two" offers have met the asking price. So what the hell is going on? I think that the reason we aren't hearing anything is because there's nothing to tell. Nobody, including Ashley, Llambias, Harris, Shearer, Hughton, has the slightest clue about what's happening. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the interested parties have taken one look at the books and thought it's not worth bothering with.
The full scale of this mess is just starting to hit home now.
We are absolutely screwed
Is it not about time the FA stepped in to sort the whole mess out. Thought there was something in the FA rules about been a 'proper and fit person' to own and run a football club, or do the deem that Ashley is a 'fit and proper person' heaven forbid if they do. Mind you with the FA do they really care about the fans - don't think they do, so its probably a non starter in any case.

I agree with you Jack we are screwed and I'm affraid to say that I have given up on us being saved. I have decided to invest my season ticket cash with my local non league team Whitley Bay FC who I watch when the toon are away. What a massive diffence between NUFC and Whitley Bay at moment they have a manager and a decent set of players who have a chance of winning somthing and not like NUFC who are a rudderless ship sinking fast. I will admit for the first time in years I'm actually looking foward to the start of a new football season supporting a club who deserve it.
I see Nicky Butt's added his voice to the chorus of disapproval - a player managers consistently relied on because of his reputation and someone whose suicidal passing and 'passionate' tackling consistently left our defence in trouble; a player whose inability to support the attack and inability to pass accurately to the wingers and forwards contributed considerably to our lack of goals. He's like Nolan with talent. No, sorry. That's Geremi. Or is Geremi Nolan, with pace, God forbid? Ah, hell. Nolan has no talent and no pace (or even less of both than Geremi and Cacapa - put together...)!
Steve Harper, Steven Taylor and Kevin Nolan have played top flight football in more than one country have they? Which countries are they?
Don't let facts get in the way Lee.
Steve Harper's spent a lot of his top flight career on the bench collecting a hadsome wage.
Can someone please find a solicitor who can charge Ashley with Murder. As he is slowly killing our beloved club.!
Or take out a compensation claim against Ashley, because he is causing 50,000 Geordies a great deal of emotional heartache and distress.!
I cant describe how bad I feel regarding this whole mess.! I luv this club, and we need to get back on track ASAP.
Getting a bit tired of these players coming out saying 'i'm off' blah blah. They are still getting their money and they were the reason for the club going down anyway, sure they can try and blame off the field turmoil but these players owe the club big time but all they can think of is themselves. Now they are again blaming others for them wanting to leave so they don't look bad, either commit to the club or good riddance they were'nt good enough to keep Newcastle in the premier what makes them think they good enough to get them back into the premier??
Hold on a second, are these players who are crying over spilt milk actually saying, as they stand they're not good enough to win the CC.?! Eh!? Shearer said this pretty much when he said he needed players in but are the players actually admitting it too? sorry lads you dug this hole, you are all pretty much still there, so get on with it!if you don't think you can do it take a pay cut or find another club and let the young'ins give it a go, i don't hear them complaining!!?!?! If we don't get on with it we will drop down again.
In fact just drop NB, ST, KN, that spainish twit and anybody else that is publically pee'd off! most of them missed a huge amount of games last season together with MO and MV. basically our first team!!! everyone of them massively over rated, including Harper and Taylor! -Bit part players everyone of them!
I have been tring to write something on here for about the last two days but honestly have struggled to find the correct words. I like most other NUFC fans am angry and disillusioned by all going on within SJP. I said about 6 months ago that i felt that MA being a Spurs fan had ultiria - motives for buying NUFC. Nothing and i mean NOTHING about what he has done since arriving makes sense. Even now when he could cut his losses and walk away with £100m he is still digging his heels in trying to drag this club down further. Somebody somewhere needs to investigate this clown. I dont no what the conspiracy is but there is one, there has to be. This man arrived from nowhere a self confessed billionaire and yet he is the stupidist excuse for a human being i have ever seen and i mean STUPID.
I remain optimistic to the cause but even if he sold the club tomorrow and Shearer or any other manager was employed we have already lost so much ground in the transfer market. So it may take a very long time to repair the damage.
Oh and i watched Goal 3 last night and heard the fat B****** talk for the first time, about 3 words and two off them where F*** Off - this man really makes my blood boil.
lee
can you not start getting the chron a bit respect back by banging hard on the st james doors and demanding to know what the hell is going on ?
even if the alledged deals have fell thru surely we have a right to know ? why has shearer not been given some sort of deal ? these and other questions need asking. its our local media's job to demand the answers .
we don't need to know how fed up our underperforming superstars are feeling .
Isn't it time for all true supporters of the club to stop sniping at the players, stop moaning about the reporting of the situation by the likes of Lee and his colleagues, and stop fighting amongst ourselves?
The barrow boy and his advisors would like nothing more than for the only group of people openly condemning his actions to be too caught up with infighting to mount any effective pressure on the regime, not to mention the likes of Sky etc who seem to revel in painting us as a pack of hyenas baying for blood.
The players aren't to blame for the fact that they are sitting on obscene salaries. Their so-called agents and the owners of the clubs are responsible for that, and you can't tell me that if somebody else was getting double your salary for the same job as you, you'd be happy to settle for your salary for the love of the company. The reporting staff aren't responsible for the lack of hard facts from SJP, and I have no doubt that they are turning over every stone in an effort to find something to write about, after all, they are being paid by their respective papers to write the copy that goes on the back pages. How can anybody in this field function given the vaccuum of information coming out of the club?
As for fighting amongst ourselves, shouldn't we be concentrating on the job in hand? That job is bringing as much pressure to bear on the Barrow Boy to sell up and ship out through as many places and methods we can find. Today's reports that his chav clobber business has had it's profits slashed should have come as no surprise to him and maybe it will prove to be the spur he needed to cut his losses with NUFC and concentrate on his glorified market stall. We can only hope.
"The players aren't to blame for the fact that they are sitting on obscene salaries."
They can be blamed for not putting in decent shift on the pitch.
Agree with DavidK, I reckon if the players came out and said nothing at all then they'd just get accused of not caring a hoot, etc etc. As a club we're in a no win situation at the moment - oh yeah, we should be used to that shouldn't we, since the cockney kamikaze pilot took the reigns.
Listen, he's got to run out of fuel sometime. Where though is he aiming to land us?
Come on Chronicle, dig some dirt and expose this charlatan.
Yes the players can voice their opinion but in the right way and right context.. Enrique Leftbakio, more or less turned around and said he might have to bight the bullet and take a pay cut to move to a different club!!!! AHHHHHH! poor bairn i can't stop crying for him, i'm going to organize a sponsered walk to get him back home, only he'll be doing the walking and the route is from the toon to costa del whereverhecamefrom'O He is actually admitting he is not worth th money he is paid! if he was he could get it somewhere else!!! for me the players shoul dbe seen and never heard! fullstop! unless its for the love of the club regardless what is going on. if the players want a voice it should be done through a rep from the FA. Honestly everyone of these so called stars that seem to be edging towards the door apart for Bassong and Baye would just not be missed one little bit! its not in fighting, and yes the media should track whoever is dealing with this mess down and push them unitl we get an answer..
Troops! did you really say troops? Comparing those deenowts to troops. Please apologise to all our lads and lasses in the armed forces working their backsides off to look after our country. TROOPS at ST James' Park.??????????????? Didn't think the Chronic ----sorry absolutely lost for words.
