Lee,
Let's hope these gadgies are the real deal and we can put this farce behind us!!.

more than likely here to do a stadium tour or a cheaper supplier for the yellow striped material for new strip.

Chizzy_Toon said:

Maybe they came over to see the fools that bought all the yellow materiel....

Fingers crossed they are the new owners taking a look around.

hope this is reet mate we need a bit of clout behind us now cant wait to get rid of the cokney mafia who have wrecked our once proud football club

Well at least this appears to confirm that there is at least one consortium! After all the claims and counter-claims in the last 5 weeks its not surprising that United fans just don't know what to believe!

i am not holding my breath as this is probably just a p.r stunt to make us beleive there is something happening. i agree with chizzy they are probably the people who supplied the yellow fabric!!

god knows i hope im wrong and this is the start of a positive direction for our football club. but i dont think anyone can blame us for feeling a bit negative about our club at the present time.

oh and if this transfer goes through for owen to man u, and he scores loads of goals for them i think he should be shot in both knee caps

Looks like MO is going to land on his feet - lets hope he breaks both legs in the process !
It annoys me that the National Press always refers to his '4 nightmare years on Tyneside' but never to our 4 nightmare years waiting for him to recuperate, recover and deliver.

More outsiders trying to cash in on the gullible geordie faithful. Although I'll have my critics I'd sooner see Freddie back, at least he's black & white, would give big Al the chance, and back him with money. Keep with the north east where the passion is. We've just witnessed what strangers do.

Heard from a bloke in the pub ( yes it sounds silly but no one else is saying out ) That Kevin Keegan has been aproached by a mystery consortium from the far east to come back mid July with full control over first team matters and 10 million plus generated transfer cash to get us straight back up . The bloke was quite clued up on all things Newcastle and said Shepherds bid was dismissed out of hand as Ashleys pride came first , This afternoon I read about The Malasyian group,Walter Mitty or what a story ? Either way he had a captivated audience for half an hour or so....Jackie W

Come on Lee, you are doing nothing to gain some credibility here - if this is a blog then start answering some of the criticism of 'The Chronicle', preferably without being petty and picking up on typos as you did with Dave on your previous story; just accept that too much speculation has been printed with too few facts resulting in this 'once great paper' to lose nearly as much credibility as NUFC itself...

Last night I said that I hoped that tonight's story would be credible, unfortunately it is not.

Please start backing up your stories and explain whether it is based on fact, speculation or rumour; I will only start reading again when you start giving your readers some credit, even if some of the comments are a bit 'off the mark'!

Ryder's reply: You are entitled to your opinion - but we can't and won't invent the story that we all want to hear.
If the club gets sold and Alan Shearer comes in as manager or anybody else then we will report it.
If a group expresses an interest in buying Newcastle, we will report it and we will continue to dig for it.
If we get a steer of what is going on by contacts that we have then we will write it.
And as a football writer getting stick and taking personal attacks from people like you is simply part of the job which I was warned about a number of years ago when I decided football reporting was for me - it's a contact sport mate.

Tell me I didn't just read that there is even a hint of Keegan coming back. Don't forget his walking out AGAIN precipitated the long slippery slide to Chamionship football. You'd have to be stark staring bonkers to want him back. He'll just walk, that's what he does. No, don't let him within 5 miles of SJP.

Re. Lee, come on give the bloke a chance. If no news is coming out of the horses mouth ( direct from the club ) then he has to fish around, pick up on stories from second hand sources which may or may not have credibility, but has to print them anyway in case they are true and he misses out. It's a cut throat world journalism. Lee Ryder, you're OK by me.

I posted a response to this article earlier lambasting the poor journalism and spelling involved with this writer's work, only to find it has been removed. So, be wary fellow readers, it seems that there are a few raw nerves at the Chronicle. I used to enjoy and actively look forward to the back page but now feel pretty damned annoyed with the current watered down people involved.

Stephan said:

I heartily agree with Ryan B. These back pages read like a comic mish mash of third hand cliche ridden football drivel.
I visit these web pages because there is more reasoning, logic, insight and constructive criticism from fellow posters than the one whose name is in the biggest font size at the top of this page.

where's your head at Neil_nufc, the communication from St Jamess has been non existent throughout the whole Ashley era
quite how that is Lee Ryder, Alan Oliver or anybody elses fault makes you look foolish
you clearly do not understand that if willing buyers sign NDAs they cannot comment during the sale process and nor can Ashley and co or theyll get sued
therefore not only do you not understand how selling and buying works but you dont understand how journalism works either
go and read another paper if you will but the fact you keep coming back means you are still reading

Sy said:

Personally, I'd rather read something on topic like this about potential buyers than hearing another ex-player like Moncur talking about how Shearer "must be manager" or how "it'll be tough in the Championship". I don't read further than headlines on those ones. Zzz.

In fairness though, it can't be easy to write stories everyday on NUFC when there's clearly nothing to write about coming out of the club.

Hopefully there'll be some positive things to read and write about in the next couple of weeks. (I'm not believing the talk of a sale being sealed by next week, mind. - Believe that when I see it.)

Toon Graeme said:

Keegan tipped to return?? Please and let him walk away again. Too much water under the bridge.

Its a pain staking wait for the sale to be confirmed and as with all press related articles about it - no one knows owt (as mentioned in said articles about confidentiality clauses) so how is the figure of offer known?

Insider or close source is another word for no idea so lets put an educated guess.

The chronicle and journal are normally spot on the money on things - but there are only so many times you can read about someone saying "Shearer is the best man for the job" and previously "MO will find form and score goals" - we all know what happened there. Watch the get score 20+ for manure. Really dont want to keep on about MO and his disgraceful allegience to his previous employers (NUFC) and the fans/kids who got his name on their shirts and cheered loudly when his name was read out at SJP. First time I saw him smile in 3 years!

Anyway Lee if you can print us the article about the closure of the sale and a manager it would be appreciated (whenever that will be) :-)

Fingers crossed that the deal is done in the next few days so we can finally start to try to look at the future in a positive light.
On Another note I have critisied Lee before in the past but I think a lot of the critisism he is getting at the mo is totally undeserved, fair enough there is nothing new really being reported but that`s down to our boards final show of distain towards the fans that found them out and have nearly got rid of them by not giving the fans any news on the future of the club. That can hardly be blamed on Lee, he at they end of the day has to fill coloum inches some how as it`s his job and I would prefer little extracts from Rob Lee than the tripe the southern papers just make up.
What I would say though is that the chronicle totally miss read the situation earlier last year, when fans asked them to back them and try to get rid of the cockney mafia and all the paper did was ignore the critisism and in my opinion back our current board, and a lot of earlier blogs will clearly show this, thats were all the ill feeling has come from. It would be good if the paper in whole came out and admitted this, I won`t hold my breath though.

it does get very tiresome, these ex players, giving there 5p worth, sick to the teeth of hearing moncur, trot out the same lines, yes we know all this, we don't need to hear the same rubbish rehashed in different ways every week, everyday its someone else, might the chronicle not go and get someone worth listening to, my thinking is sir bobby for one, if we must have these stories to fill the space.

On KK, the posters say he will walk away, yes i was unhappy, that he never said enought to the fans, and maybe he could of stayed and fought his corner with the fans backing, but lets not forget the facts, he was promised big money for signings, the wow signings, he never got them, wise was brought in, took transfer's out his hands, bought and sold players behind his back.

Whatever happened, Mike Ashley's mismanagement got us there, and can anyone honestly post on here, that if KK had stayed we would have got relegated? no way we would of, Ashley bungled his way from one poor decision to another, lies, betrayal, i sniff a movie coming.

Whatever is happening, as posted, these people signed non disclosure's, so hard facts will be hard, at the end of the day, Lee Ryder, is just doing his job, its what we all would do in his shoes

heard ryder on talksport earlier, he knew much more than they did
ryder used to sit on the fence but if you look back on his reports last season he tore the team apart even when shearer was manager i think theyve created a monster¬!!
be honest Neil_nufc you are just frustrated that he hasnt wrote the story you want to hear
boohoo for you but lets hope new owners are in place

Maybe we should give Ashley another chance?
