Barton left out of Toon side for West Brom clash

By Lee Ryder on Aug 8, 09 04:17 PM

JOEY Barton will not start against West Brom today after walking out of the club's training ground on the eve of United's first game of the season.

The Scouse midfielder - who is no stranger to controversy - is understood to have had a disagreement with Fabricio Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez before storming off the training field.

It means that Chris Hughton had to make changes to the side for the West Brom game.

The incident further fuels talk that all is not well in the dressing room at Newcastle going into the marathon 46 game season.

Hughton is expected to start with Andy Carroll and Shola Ameobi in attack with Kevin Nolan dropping back into midfield after expecting to start in the hole.

Barton starts the game on the bench.

UNITED: Harper, R Taylor, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique, Jonas, Nolan, Smith, Duff, Ameobi, Carroll.

Subs: Barton, Xisco, Geremi, Lualua, Ranger, Krul, Kadar.

Lee it cannot possibly have escaped your ever so perceptive attention that all the players are upset by the current situation and not just Barton.

If you worked for a shower of unpleasant types who showed no intention of working with you or your fellow employees while also telling you that you could be dismissed because you earn too much - I'm pretty sure you would be throwing your toys out of the pram as well.

Any disruption to team morale can clearly be laid at the feet of the Fat Boy. Ashley OUT NOW !!!!!

yes agree with AM, however its always Barton kicking off, its no good falling out with your team mates.. Barton has clearly gone over the edge and hes not coming back..

newcastle today however just looked poor again apart from Duff. Ryan Tylor did not put 1 good ball in. spiderman was obvioulsy playing on the wrong wing/ wrong foot. we've got 2 6ft+ front men and every cros was alonf the floor?? who is telling them to do this? no interplay between the 2 forwards which isn't a suprize with Amnotafootballerobi. defense? nolan has to be allowed to play his own game. i forgot he was on the pitch after 20mins. other then that we were fantastic..

Barton is poison. He was the reason KK and the barrow boy fell out. Fatman wanted to get rid as soon as Bootboy came out the nick. KK wanted to keep him. Eventually KK spat his dummy out. Owen wanted away ever since Bootboy turned up, so has anyone else with any decency, as I said he is poison. Hughton put him on to try and get someone daft enough to buy him. Shearer would have got shot of him straight away. No one wants to play with Barton.

I think Barton is our best midfielder, but of all our players he is the one I'd most like to see leave. He has done nothing but embarrass us, if we could swap him for a player with a good attitude but with half his ability we'd be getting a good deal.
