Donny win is essential to avoid one of the worst weeks in history of Newcastle United

Cast your mind back to the night we beat Juventus 1-0 to keep our Champions League hopes alive back in 2002.

Had somebody then told you that in seven years time we could end the same week with defeats to Scunthorpe and Doncaster within days of each other you probably would have laughed in their face - or accused them of having one too many!

But after a disastrous week so far we are in danger of stooping to a new low and possibly one of the biggest low points in United's history.

Upset Scunthorpe fans felt that some of the things said from a Newcastle viewpoint were disrespectful to their side, especially when comparisons were made when talking about how low the Toon had slumped in the last 13 years.

But Newcastle fans are now becoming immune to getting stick.

Losing to Scunthorpe was really bad but compared to some of the things that have happened in the last year, it was perhaps inevitable but by no means acceptable.

Now with Doncaster Rovers heading to Toon only a convincing win will calm the waters on the Tyne.

Well, Lee, remember Juve were in their Italian 'Championship' Division ahead of us!

Juve got relegated as punishment because those in charge of the club at the time were corrupt. Those in charge of our club aren't competent enough to be corrupt.

Hey Lee,

I think its a bit much to say this week is a crisis that could get worse if we don't get a result tommorow.

We have lost 4-5 games in the prem and that was far worse.

In context though a win is needed as more for chris hughton as if we lose how can he get a new and improved contract????????

Only at Newcastle can you get this drama....

"bunch of wingers"

What, like Laurent Robert, David Ginola, Franz Carr etc? We could do with more width in our team, yes.

i agree it is the worst week, certainly in the last 10yrs.. something has happened here. i think the reality that MA is staying and Shearer isn't coming back has kicked in a couple of weeks earlier for the team than it as for the fans. obviously they get wind of things before we do. i think nicky butt came out a few weeks ago and said give CH the job but i'm sure he was one of the senior players who said at the beginning of the season that no way could he manage the club and was simply a good coach full stop.. I think the team were keeping things going for shearer and any new owner but now its not happening the team spirit has took another kicking and the lads have lost their shine! its hard to blame them but they have to dig deep (think of the money) go out there and really rip into the opposition...
