The little ground of football horrors awaits at Glanford Park
There can't be too many manager who would be handed the manager's job at Newcastle United on the back of a beating by little Scunthorpe United - but that could well be the case for Chris Hughton after tonight's tricky clash with the Iron.
Since the last days of summer sunshine at Ipswich on a tearful day when we said goodbye for one final time to Sir Bobby Robson at Portman Road in a 4-0 win the former Barcelona boss would have loved, things haven't quite been the same for the Magpies.
There was a warning shot against Peterborough in the Carling Cup when our "shadow squad" took on the Posh and were bundled out of the competition in sobering fashion.
Then there was the reality of how tough teams are prepared to make it at St James's Park against QPR and Bristol City with the Rs going for the going for the jugular and trying to nab three points then the Robins parking the bus in front of the goals.
Forest was simply awful with ghosts of last season beginning to come back into Newcastle's play.
And all of it has coincided with the arrival of Marlon Harewood with only Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood knowing why the ex-West Ham United man was handed the honour of wearing a Toon shirt.
Suddenly that great team spirit began to erode...
Now at Scunny rock bottom awaits if United tumble to an unthinkable defeat at the hands of former physio Nigel Adkins side.
Fair play to Scunthorpe United fans, they really make it a fortress at Glanford Park and while it isn't Galatasaray (although Doncaster Road on a Friday night does come close) it's certainly effective.
Newcastle players could end up in the crowd tonight if they don't oil their brakes as a northern town moves in for the kill.
Be warned United.
Be warned.

The CH appointment is a bad one, he's a yes man with no b**ls and it will all end in tears yet again!
I can see Scunny beating us tonight and donny will give us a game on sat, if that happens then what ?
Ashley, get out of our club and stay out and take your stupid regime with you you fool.
bloody hell we were sus'd out by blackpool now everyone is having ago, CH hasn't got what it takes to lift or change the team sorry mate thats just the way it is.. what a load of rubbish! scunny??? you have to be kidding everyone will think they can beat us now... and they can. CH is talking about his game plan "we came here to do well" em, right so thats a plan is it? look plan up in the dictionary chris then do someting about it!!!! the old guard at this club took us down, do not rely on them they will take us down again.. try and be ruthless.. that has to be the most embaressing defeat in the last 50yrs.. i bet fat ash is loving it!!!!
Why doesn't Ashley admit that it will never work with him in charge and cut his losses?
It is just getting worse and his cheapskate approach will leave us with another inadequate manager and further player sales. The club will slide down the table and lose value, he cannot change his approach/ he seems incapable of adapting to circumstances, despite the gathering evidence of its failure.
Just go Ashley before we end up in league 1 and the club is worth a tenner, you idiot.

well there we have it eh?
beat off scunny!
I would like to know i the fans that think CH "deserves" the job are still thinking that?
he was in charge for a bit last season aswell remember? aye and for orient.
and people think he "deserves it" are they kiddin iz? 1 question WHY?
The same folk who think chris is the man for the job keep saying "Shearer has no experience" or even worse "Shearer took us down" (surley there not serious????)
but with the same bunch of players Shearer had, under houghton, we got pumped of orient.
Step forward alan smith who forms "the players commity" (which i think had more to do with our early good run than CH.)
what sounded to me went a bit like this:
"if yiz dont want to stay F off, and if u do want to stay its up to us as players to get us back up coz these 2 havnt got a clue"
now were in an inferior division with argintinian internationals ect. still in the squad i EXPECT to be top of the league!
The FCB knows Shearers no mug and simply couldnt get away with what he can with CH in charge.
The players can surley see this, the bloke is a canny coach but manager?
howay man divint make iz laughf he's ashleys yes man just like JFK and "i dont know" wont be an option for him as "manager" resulting in the incoherent waffling we had from JFK.
well im sorry but i find it hard to respect a man that hasnt got the bottle to stand up for whats right, and as long as ashley has someone saying "yes" to his every word he will stay.
would chris have the bottle to TELL ashley what we NEED? i dont think so cause Shearer done that and look how far it got him.
LEE GIT THAT BLIDY CAPTCHA SORTED OOT MAN
Ashley staying, Chris Hughton new Manager,
MY GOD PITY USE ALL.
What a mess this fool has got this club in, What I cannot understand, why Barry Moat even intended to buy the club if he did not have the money what was he thinking? I am lost for words.
