I brought you all the action as Newcastle snatched a point after trailing for much of the match at Bristol City.
Thousands of Toon fans made the 600-mile round trip and their efforts were rewarded when homegrown hero Andy Carroll lurched to steal an equaliser after a below-par Magpies performance.
United almost stole it at the death but the CIty keeper pulled off a stunning save from new boy Best meaning United left Ashton Gate with honours even.
