Middlesbrough 2 Newcastle 2
NEWCASTLE United held Middlesbrough to a draw at the Riverside in a match which the Teessiders dominated.
Despite opening the scoring with a strike by Peter Lovenkrands, Newcastle had the poorer game.
Barry Robson equalised before the break and after a bright start to the second half Boro seemed set to win after Scott McDonald put them in front.
However, Andy Carroll drew the Toon level with just minutes left in the game to leave Newcastle on course for promotion.
I journeyed across the border to Teesside for the Toon's match against Middlesbrough.

Lovenkrands looks like a great signing. You never can tell when foreign players come here at that sort of age
Another useful result, but by all accounts a really mediocre display. I certainly don't think we have a right to win all the time, but I'm baffled by our approach to away matches..we're nothing short of abject until the point in the game where we have to get a goal. Like many seasons gone before, I've lost count of the number of times this season that we've gone away from home and done nothing positive until absolutely necessary. I know you have to be solid away from home, I get that, but you also have to remind the home team that you are a threat, otherwise they'll just push you back and back, as happened against Boro. Ball retention away from home is key to quieten the crowd and take the impetus out of the home side. We're poor at it. Instead, we sit back, invite the cavalry charge and then defend desperately. It needn't be that way! For me, they need to go out looking to be solid, but also looking to keep the ball as much as possible and draw the home team out of position. That's what Man U are masters at away from home. The approach Newcastle take simply serves to give the home team / fans reason to be encouraged. I think we get obsessed by being "gritty" and "resiliant" and forget to play football.
