Hatem Ben Arfa saga shows no signs of letting up

By Lee Ryder on Aug 13, 10 09:11 PM

So then just a quiet Friday night in Newcastle as French international Hatem Ben Arfa turns up at Newcastle Airport.

The saga has been one of the most "on/off" deals of the summer so far but with the player photographed by a fan tonight before being posted on several websites and on Twitter's NUFC community, his arrival was quickly the talk of Tyneside as the rain lashed down.

Arfa stormed out of a meeting with Marseille chiefs on Thursday and even though the French giants have played down a move with 18 days left of the transfer window, this one looks set to run and run.

And with the player seemingly on Tyneside just a day after going on strike with Marseille, it was never going to go unnoticed in the goldfish bowl.

Toon fans await the next chapter with interest.

OM said he wasn't signing for us, so maybe he's here to sign for the Muckems instead... lol

All good stuff, mainly designed to generate column inches (sorry Lee) and burn up cycles on the internet.

I'll believe it when I see his picture on .CO.UK, wearing the new home kit.......hopefully on Monday before the ManUre game.

Hughton knows for a fine fact he wants Ben Arfa. He's doing it so the media can't disrupt his plans and training for monday. Otherwise he would say yes wouldn't he?

Friday the 13th and Ben Arfa arrives at Newcastle airport.

There is no one from the club to meet him at the airport.

It is reported no discussions can, or will take place between Newcastle and Ben Arfa or his agent/legal advisor until cleared to do so by Marseille.

I'm not sure whether to be salacious, suspicious or superstitious.

this is proof that football is all politics. LOM are tryin to screw a bit more money oot the toon. the young lad was told to find a new club. his agent found one. then this nutcases at LOM are tryin to stretch it out. it also proves that CH is keeping the cards close to his chest and making sure all transfers are done quietly.

im sure it would have it wasnt for this bunch of froggys. the only other team he'd be touting for by coming to newcastle airport is the makems and theres been no reporting of that. hes here to try and push a deal through at the toon. good on him. hes the kind of mag we need in the fold.

maybe he just wanted to see if a friday night in the toon is as good as they say....

Lee, you're a journalist - ASK THE POWERS THAT BE AT NUFC WHY WE'RE ONLY ACCEPTING MINIMAL TICKET ALLOCATIONS FOR FORTHCOMING AWAY MATCHES?! THIS IS A big ISSUE!!

with so many conflicting reports being bandied about you have to wonder just exactly what is happening. Questions must be asked about hatem ben arfa's attitude and moody tirades but in the same token he would make a great coup for the toon. Let us just hope that hughton can say what he wants for once without the fear of being chastised by ashley, put simply- SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!!

hope we land him, leroy fer would be good as well, ireland would be worth a look into if milner deal doesnt go through, possibly land him on loan...still need another striker though, no idea why we didnt try and land kris boyd
