Gallowgate thugs need to take a good look at themselves

By Lee Ryder on Mar 19, 12 06:32 PM

It was with great sadness to learn that the Sir Bobby Robson memorial on Gallowgate had been damaged by people who can only be described as callous thugs.

Or is it a fresh example that society has now changed for the worst?

Let's not forget, the Geordie public are still amongst the warmest people in the UK when it comes to welcoming folk to such a vibrant and exciting city.

But sadly, there will always be the small minority of idiots that will try to spoil it for everybody else.

Whoever is responsible for such a low act have well and truly let themselves down - and the city.

Whether the individuals concerned are even from Newcastle remains to be seen, but it makes it worse if they are as they have wrecked part of their own city.

It would be easy to get on the soap box and talk about society being in a state due to the economic downturn.

But when it comes to mindless vandalism, there is simply no excuse.

Or perhaps they haven't got the mental capacity to appreciate such a fine memorial in honour of one of football and Newcastle United's greatest?

Thankfully, the majority of Newcastle fans can see these people for exactly what they are.

And while the damage is sickening for the moment, the city of Newcastle will never be defeated on the whole when it comes to the condemnation of a bunch of clowns that need to give their heads a shake and smell the coffee.
