20 year anniversary of Liam O'Brien strike could be an omen for Newcastle United

When the Newcastle United fans head to the Stadium of Light on Sunday, amazingly they will still be singing the name of a man who won hearts and minds two decades ago in Liam O'Brien.

Catching up with the Irishman this week certainly brought memories of his stunning free-kick flooding back.

And many loyal members of the Toon Army would love to see a repeat on Wearside this weekend in some shape or form.

Speaking this week, O'Brien couldn't believe how time had ticked by so quickly and that 20 years had really elapsed since his stunner at Roker Park.

He said:"I don't know where the years go, but the memory is crystal clear.

"Hopefully, Newcastle can get another win on Wearside."

What price a winning goal from a set-piece this time around?

Certainly it would be a great way to mark the 20th year anniversary of Liam O'Brien's cracking strike.
